Clang, clang, clang goes the trolley!

Restoration of an Old Streetcar

These ruins of Car No. 115 were found in Jerry Buckley's pasture

Some fifty years after the cars made their last runs, the dilapidated body of one of the cars was discovered in a field near town.

As a state centennial project, a group of concerned citizens, including John Drier, who was an original conductor, restored the trolley to its original glory.

What you see here today is the same trolley. Not all the seats are original, and the controller is a wood facsimile, but the heart of the old car is here.

Resting in its permanent location on the grounds of the Best Western Sheridan Center Motor Inn, the trolley sits peacefully just a few feet from where it rode the rails over 75 years ago!

The restored car was ready for dedication on November 3, 1976
