Sheridan Farmer's Market (formerly the Grinnell Plaza Farmer's Market)

The Sheridan Farmer's Market will be hosted every Thursday from 4:00-7:00 PM in a new location. It will be in the Whitney Commons with parking in the Senior Center parking lot adjacent to the Whitney Commons. This new space will allow for more vendors, parking, rest room facilities etc. The market will open July 19, 2007 and run through September 13, 2007. It is being organized by the Downtown Sheridan Association and Sheridan College. Sheridan media continues as our long time media sponsor. Corporate and private sponsors are needed to help sponsor the event.  For more information contact Roger Bent at 672-8881.

Local growers and local artisan's will provide fresh produce, arts and crafts.  Local musicians will also frequent the market to provide a festive atmosphere. There will be children's events, youth activities, demonstrations and non profit organization booths at the market every week. Come visit the market and enjoy the park.

Christmas Stroll

In partnership with the Sheridan County Chamber of Commerce, the Christmas Stroll is held on the Friday after Thanksgiving. It is the official opening of the Christmas shopping season, and the lighting of the Christmas lights. Prizes are offered by all the businesses, bands play on the street corners, there are lots of food and hot drinks, free trolley rides, free wagon rides, and of course Santa Claus himself comes to town aboard an antique fire engine.

Wine Festival 2007

Over 300 people attended the 7th Annual DSA Wine Festival in March 2007. The event was very successful raising over $16,000 for the Downtown Sheridan Association. There were 10 wine and beer vendors giving samples, refreshments were served and there was a large silent auction followed by a live auction of donated goods and services.

Proceeds from this fund raiser were used to purchase new rod iron planters for the Main Street in Sheridan.  DSA also provides all the funding for watering and care of the flowers.

Sheridan College Horticulture students and DSA volunteers planted the flowers in the college greenhouse and then hung them on lampposts downtown.

To be a volunteer for next year's wine festival contact the DSA Executive Director at (307) 672-8881.  Meetings start in January 2008.
