Main Street
Main Street construction, from the Burkitt Street intersection north through Dow Street,
was completed in 2003. The rehabilitation included removal and replacement of all sidewalk, curb and gutter, signage, signalization and signalized intersection lighting within this reach. The concrete pavement section
had select removal and replacement where necessary and was rehabilitated by grinding to smooth the surface and restore its appearance. Main Street is a key component of the downtown area and
now has similar streetscape components to the
Grinnell Plaza.

These components include terra cotta colored concrete within a one-foot wide section along the back of curb with terra cotta ADA ramps at the intersection corners; functional/decorative lighting along both sides of the street section, excluding the intersections where WYDOT lighting will be required, but extending into the side street areas; colored/textured crosswalks (terra cotta color with a cobblestone pattern) at intersections on the side street crossing locations; colored 4-point star designs (terra cotta color) at the center of the
intersections; and trash receptacles, benches and brick paving sections at selected intersections.
The remaining portion of Main Street within the downtown study area (1St Street through 5th
Street) is scheduled by WYDOT for complete reconstruction in 2008. This section of Main
Street will have similar enhancements (given funding availability) to those previously
described for the Burkitt to Dow Street section.
